Fuel-thirsty race cars need refreshment, too, and Gilford made the goods handy for kids giving their Hot Wheels cars a work out. His Fuel Tanker shared the futuristic cab of the mid-size Heavyweight truck chassis, and added a white tanker body to the rear for fuel-carrying duties. For additional play value, Gilford integrated black plastic hoses into the tanker body and made them pull out so children could pretend to fill their cars after a long day of running them down strips of orange track.

The cab of Hong Kong-built casting was only painted white enamel to match the plastic tanker body, which was decked out with a yellow sticker on each side reading “Racing Fuel” in red, along with a red Hot Wheels banner. On top of the tanker body was a blue stripe replicating a walkway for the driver. The casting was only offered in 1971.
